ABOUT BLUE TRIDENT

Blue Trident is an unofficial fan website dedicated to Rick Riordan's children's fantasy series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the sequel series, The Heroes of Olympus.

In the Beginning...

In 2005, a bored 17 year-old girl decided to start a fan website for the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. So she e-mailed author Rick Riordan to ask his permission, which he kindly gave, and she got to work building the website. Unfortunately it didn't look as good as she'd hoped, so she deleted it and pushed the idea to the back of her mind. After the second book in the series was released she decided to try again, plus she needed something to keep her occupied seeing as her exams had finished and she was waiting to go to university. So, on the 12th July 2006, Blue Trident was uploaded for the first time onto the Internet for all to see. And it's still online today.

Timeline

  • 12th July 2006 - Blue Trident goes online for the first time!

  • 30th? August 2006 - Blue Trident: The Forum created.

  • May/June 2008 - Demigods and Monsters competition held.

  • 28th November 2008 - Forum changes provider and becomes "v2.0".

  • March 2009 - The Sword of Hades / Groovy Greeks competition held.

  • 26th November 2009 - Christine nearly retires as webmistress due to personal problems but doesn't go through with it. Staff positions advertised.

  • 31st December 2010 - Version 2.0 of the layout goes live! Finally!

  • 25th April 2011 - Christine considers changing site's main URL / web address. Lets the public vote which URL they want Blue Trident to have. Public decides to keep the address the way it is.

  • 2nd June 2012 - Domain name (bluetrident.org) expires. Christine chooses not to renew it for financial reasons.

  • 4th September 2012 - Blue Trident goes on an indefinite hiatus due to Christine getting a teaching job.

Did you know?

  • Blue Trident is one of the longest-running Percy Jackson and the Olympians fansites.

  • Christine and Blue Trident were once featured as Rick Riordan's Demigod of the Week for the week beginning Monday 24th July 2006.

  • The website's original tagline was "The No.1 Fan Site for Percy Jackson and the Olympians". It was changed to "Seeing through the Mist since 2006" to accommodate coverage of The Heroes of Olympus series (and because the original sounded a little too big-headed).

  • You can access Blue Trident from three URLs:
    http://www.bluetrident.org, http://www.freewebs.com/bluetrident, and
    http://bluetrident.webs.com.
